About US

Our story

Officer Lindsay Dozier of the Fresno Police Department created the Fresno PAL Fightgirls program to help young girls build self-esteem and positive relationships with law enforcement. Inspired by her own experience with karate as a shy child, Dozier became a lifelong athlete and police officer. While working as a school resource officer, she recognized a need to support preteen and teenage girls dealing with challenges like insecurity, bullying, and social pressure.

In April 2020, Dozier and fellow female officers began teaching fitness kickboxing to girls aged 14 to 17. The program, which has since expanded, includes physical training and group discussions on relevant topics, helping participants improve their confidence and overcome issues like social anxiety.

In September of 2024 the Fresno PAL Fightgirl Program moved from Fightgirl Fitness gym to Romain Playground Fresno PAL Boxing Gym and began a new journey of learning the skill of Boxing. The focus of the program is still to build self-esteem and build positive relationships between police officers and students through fitness, but not only that, we are giving the girls an opportunity to become competitive boxers through our esteemed Fresno PAL Boxing program. Two classes are offered weekly one strength and conditioning class for boxers, and one sparing class.

Two Intro to Boxing Classes are offered in the Spring and Summer time for new girls entering the program.

Fresno PAL Fightgirls are now known as Fresno PAL Lady Boxing.

Success Story

Jadyn Machado

When we started Fresno PAL Fightgirl Fitness, we set a goal to have some of our girls eventually graduate our program and become coaches at Fightgirl Fitness. As we evolved to Fresno PAL Lady Boxing our goals became much larger. We are proud to say Jadyn didn't want to ever settle for just a job, she wanted to start a career, following in the footsteps of her officer mentors. We are proud to announce that Jadyn has become the first Fresno PAL Lady Boxer to begin her career at the Fresno Police Dept!!! She spent 5 years training with us before starting her college career & applying at the Fresno Police Dept. She has also trained alongside Fresno PD Running Team members to run a half marathon which she successfully completed in 2024. We shoot for the Moon but land on the Stars. Congratulations Jadyn. We are so proud of you. We can't wait to walk with you as you start your career in the most honorable profession: Law Enforcement
Officer Lindsay Dozier
Everything happens for a reason. Fresno PAL has shown me that. When I was younger, I felt lost and didn't know my path, but this program has changed all of that for me. With the support of my mom and Fresno PAL Mentors, I found my path, began to believe in myself, and now I am a proud Fresno Police Department Police Cadet, and a Sophomore at Fresno State studying Criminology-Law Enforcement.
